Harry turned around - and saw, quite clearly, what. For a moment, he was sure he'd walked into a nightmare - this was too much, on top of everything that had happened so far.
They weren't in a room, as he had supposed. They were in a corridor. The forbidden corridor on the third floor. And now they knew why it was forbidden.
They were looking straight into the eyes of a monstrous dog, a dog which filled the whole space between ceiling and floor. It had three heads. Three pairs of rolling, mad eyes; three noses, twitching and quivering in their direction; three drooling mouths, saliva hanging in slippery ropes from yellowish fangs.
It was standing quite still, all six eyes staring at them, and Harry knew that the only reason they weren't already dead was that their sudden appearance had taken it by surprise, but it was quickly getting over that, there was no mistake what those thunderous growls meant.

Hagrid was there to take them down to the fleet of boats that sailed across the lake; they were boarding the Hogwarts Express; talking and laughing as the countryside became greener and tidier; eating Bertie Bott's Every-Flavor Beans as they sped past Muggle towns; pulling off their wizard robes and putting on jackets and coats; pulling into platform nine and three-quarters at King's Cross Station.
It took quite a while for them all to get off the platform. A wizened old guard was up by the ticket barrier, letting them go through the gate in twos and threes so they didn't attract attention by all bursting out of a solid wall at once and alarming the Muggles.
'You must come and stay this summer,' said Ron, 'both of you - I'll send you an owl.'
'Thanks,' said Harry, 'I'll need something to look forward to.'
People jostled them as they moved forward toward the gateway back to the Muggle world. Some of them called: 'Bye, Harry!' 'See you, Potter!'
'Still famous,' said Ron, grinning at him.
'Not where I'm going, I promise you,' said Harry.
He, Ron, and Hermione passed through the gateway together.

Every time one of their men was lost, the white pieces showed no mercy. Soon there was a huddle of limp black players slumped along the wall. Twice, Ron only just noticed in time that Harry and Hermione were in danger. He himself darted around the board taking almost as many white pieces as they had lost black ones.
'We're nearly there,' he muttered suddenly. 'Let me think - let me think …'
The white queen turned her blank face towards him.
'Yes …' said Ron softly, 'it's the only way … I've got to be taken.'
'NO!' Harry and Hermione shouted.
'That's chess!' snapped Ron. 'You've got to make some sacrifices! I'll make my move and she'll take me - that leaves you free to checkmate the king, Harry!'
'But -'
'Do you want to stop Snape or not?'
'Ron -'
'Look, if you don't hurry up, he'll already have the Stone!'
There was nothing else for it.
'Ready?' Ron called, his face pale but determined. 'Here I go - now, don't hang around once you've won.'
He stepped forward and the white queen pounced.

helloo everyone, as you maybe noticed I stopped posting on this account, I really enjoyed tumblr but when I started my full time job it became too overwhelming and time consuming to try to stay on top of three social media platforms, and it felt a bit redundant to post the same thing on three pages.
